‘Jerusalem Cast Lead’ why the title ? because the names of the military operations are cinically poetic. The Israeli military operation in Gaza began in 2009 during Hanukkah, ‘cast lead’ is a phrase taken from a children song, sung for the jewish festivity. Also because Jerusalem is called ‘city of gold’, when for our eyes it’s more like a city of cast lead.
A young woman from Jerusalem guides the public on a journey of sound, visuals and texts through the Israeli society. The pain, memory and courage are celebrated everywhere, the codes and symbols are stretched to exhaustion. The songs, speeches, dances and sirens are omnipresent from birth to death of individuals, who are taken hostage become actors in a dazzling and macabre collective hallucination and jump into a violent, national & sad whirlwind.Israel accelerates its desperate and futile headlong: the emotional dictatorship. Winter Family repeat and translate the specific procedures used by the Israeli regime on its own population. Finally, and beyond the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Winter Family question the manipulation of individuals until their total blindness.
In 2008, while the simultaneous anniversaries of both the state of Israel and the 'reunification' of Jerusalem, the French-Israeli experimental music duo Winter Family recorded in Jerusalem the sound piece 'Jerusalem Syndrome' Commissioned by the national French radio ‘France Culture’ and broadcasted on May 2009. Ruth Rosenthal and Xavier Klaine then decided to develop and deepen the work by creating A documentary theater performance. The premiere of the show was in Paris on June 2011 at the 104 as part of Impatience Festival (l'Odeon-Ataliers Berthier-104-Télérama) Winter Family won the prize of the jury for best show

“Jerusalem Plomb Durci” pourquoi ce titre ? Parce que les noms d'opérations militaires sont cyniquement poétiques. L’opération militaire israélienne à Gaza en 2009 a débuté pendant la fête de Hanoukka, « plomb durci » est tiré d'une contine chantée à l’occasion de cette fête. De plus Jérusalem est appelée "la ville d’or", alors qu’il s'agit à nos yeux d'une ville plombée durement.
Une jeune femme de Jérusalem nous guide lors d’un voyage sonore, textuel et visuel à travers la société israélienne. La douleur, la mémoire et le courage sont célébrés de toutes parts, les codes et les symboles sont étirés jusqu'à l'épuisement. Les chants, les discours, les sirènes et les danses sont omniprésents de la naissance à la mort des individus. Pris en otage par un système implacable, ils deviennent alors les acteurs d'une éblouissante et macabre hallucination collective et se projettent dans un tourbillon violent, triste et national. Israël accélère sa fuite en avant, désespérée et vaine : la dictature émotionnelle. Dans cette performance de théâtre documentaire, Winter Family répète et traduit les modes opératoires utilisés par le régime israélien sur sa propre population et questionne, au-delà du conflit israélo-palestinien, la manipulation des êtres pouvant conduire ici jusqu'à leur aveuglement total.
En 2008, à l’occasion des anniversaires simultanés de l’état d’Israël et de la "réunification" de Jérusalem, le duo de musique expérimentale franco-israélien Winter Family a enregistré à Jérusalem une pièce sonore produite par les Ateliers de la Création Radiophonique de Radio France. Ruth Rosenthal et Xavier Klaine ont alors décidé de développer et d’approfondir ce travail et de créer une performance de théâtre documentaire.
La Première de ce spectacle a eu lieu au 104 à Paris dans le cadre du Festival Impatience (l’Odeon-Ateliers Berthier-104-Télérama) les 16 et 17 juin 2011. Winter Family y a remporté le Prix du Jury pour le meilleur spectacle.
